Rob Pearson: Master of Physical Comedy, Slapstick & Mime

Rob Pearson has built a career out of making people laugh—sometimes with words, often without. Blending physical comedy, razor-sharp timing, slapstick, mime, and character work, Rob brings a one-of-a-kind energy to the stage. His ability to shift effortlessly between expressive silence and dynamic spoken performance makes him a true original in the world of live entertainment.

Rob’s comedic style draws inspiration from the greats—Charlie Chaplin’s poetic physicality, Mr. Bean’s awkward brilliance, and Jim Carrey’s explosive energy. These influences helped shape a performance style that is bold, unpredictable, and packed with character-driven comedy that transcends language and age.

Born in the UK and raised in Australia from the age of 10, Rob’s passion for performing began early. He cut his teeth in amateur theatre, talent quests, and local bands, finding joy in the connection between audience and performer. The stage quickly became his creative home, where silence could be as powerful as a punchline.

In 1982, Rob joined The Four Kinsmen, one of Australia’s most beloved variety entertainment groups. Over two decades, they earned an incredible 27 MO Awards—including Entertainers of the Year, Best Variety Performers, and the Peter Allen Award for Variety Performers of the Year—as well as multiple Lifetime Achievement Awards. It was here that Rob’s gift for physical comedy truly came into its own.

The Four Kinsmen were also the first Australian act to land a residency on the Las Vegas Strip, performing at the Hacienda. A milestone that marked the international appeal of their uniquely Australian brand of comedy and entertainment.

While the group was known for its vocal harmony and musical flair, Rob stood out for his inventive use of movement, character, and comic timing. Whether wordless or wildly vocal, his routines always delivered something fresh and unexpected.

Following the group’s final sold-out show at Sydney’s Star City Casino in 2002, Rob continued to perform both solo and alongside long-time collaborator George Harvey. Today, his shows combine mime, voice, slapstick, a few spot on impressions, audience interaction, and absurd twists that keep audiences laughing—and guessing—every step of the way.
